Review of WANTED opening scene.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NzzhKcuJAOI

Camera -
The start of the sequence uses a extreme wide shot to establish the location, followed by a close up of the main character which flows into a low angle of the surrounding large buildings. As the man leaves the elevator a low angle, cut in shots are shown of his feet moving. Once inside the
office mid shot and close ups are used on both the characters; point of view, cut away and very wide shots are also seen here. The rest of the sequence uses more close ups and mid shots through the action section.

Sound -
In the beggining tense/dramatic music is played in order to build suspense in the scene. At the fast motion montage bit we could hear a bit of digetic noise of the door.
Once the man enters the office the music dies down and becomes more subtle and gentle;
but after the women is shot it pases up again and becomes more climactic. As the man crashes through the window only sound effects of the guns and his scream can be heard this is to add to the tension and action of the sequence than hard electro music comes in in the background.

Mise en scene -
From the opening scene of Wanted, the setting is the interior and exterior of
a large office building with in a built up urban city. To start with the street is shown,
followed by the shots from inside an office and then the outside another tall skyscraper.
The clothing worn by the office works are business suits, whilst the workman have hardhats.
The lighting used varies from natural lighting to three point lighting.

Editing -
The opening part of wanted uses a lot of fast, quick cuts throughout, straight cuts are primarily used. Uses montage as he goes up to make the scene quicker. At the very start of the scene a freeze shot is used when showing the close up of the business man perhaps to indicate his importance to the scene. Later on a special effect used to show him concentrating to jump out of the window the papers flowing insictes his speed but all in fast motion as he flyes through the air and twice as quick as the others shoots all of them.
